Flying High to Ground MS!

Check out my awesome

ElizaBLOG!

This site is to create a fresh, fun and saucy account of my everyday life with Multiple Sclerosis.  My blog will contain musings, antics, trials and tribulations of my daily (or there abouts!) life.  I would also like to provide education and support about MS.  I will attempt to achieve this through sharing my journey with MS thus far, and life before diagnosis when symptoms appeared but no link to the disease was made.  At the end of each blog entry, I’ll briefly list my symptoms for that day.  Feel free to comment. However, taunting and heckling is strongly discouraged, unless it’s really entertaining!

Here’s a little bit about me:

My life long dream was to become a Police Officer. I graduated with an Honours Degree in Criminology and a Minor in Psychology, in order to achieve my dream. Unfortunately, I was unable to continue with this due to some rather serious health issues, of which had no known cause. I then decided to go for dream number two – a Funeral Director. I went to college for Funeral Services for a year, but I knew before I even started that I could never physically endure this career. I still had no idea what was wrong with me physically. In the summer of 2005, I experienced some very severe symptoms. There was a positive to this – I was finally being taken seriously by doctors. An MRI and spinal tap confirmed MS. This diagnosis was not only the worst thing that ever happened to me, but it was also the best. I am so much more positive now. I don’t take anything for granted, I’m extremely appreciative of everything good in my life, I don’t sweat the small stuff and am much more relaxed. I try not to think of the future, but keep grounded in the present. Life is too short to dwell on the have-nots and negatives that are out of my control. It would be so easy for me to focus on the things I lost – my career goals, social life and recently being medically discharged from the Army Reserve after over ten years of service. I’m not going to give this disease that power.

Please visit my site regularly for blog entries including daily musings and antics. You will hear about my amazing hobby – flying my own Cessna 150 Aerobat name Vyctor, and also about my four beautiful daughters (Sphynx kitties).
